Kentucky Wedding :: Shannon and Wes

Well, we were at it again this weekend.  This time, we were in Louisville.  Oh, what a time it was.  We arrived at Shannon's parents home in the early afternoon and everyone was in a great mood.  Makeup and hair was well on its way and people were laughing and having a great time.

Wes was at the hotel which took quite a while to find.  Unfortunately for everyone driving on the east side of Louisville yesterday, one of the major thoroughfares was under construction so it was backroads all the way.  But everything fell right into place.

Though the heat was oppressive, a slight breeze kicked up and the ceremony went off without a hitch.  The speakers were working, the violins were playing, and all went perfectly.

The wedding parties were both great to work with.  Laughing, telling jokes, and getting along great.  That always makes the day go much smoother.

Shannon and Wes, you had a wonderful day and we are so honored you would have us document it.  We hope you enjoy what you see.

Tune in two weeks from today to see Kayla and Clay and how they celebrate their day!

Kentucky Wedding (and Ohio, too!) :: Rebecca and Dima

Well, its that time again.  We had a wedding this past weekend with a couple previously featured on our blog.  Welcome to your screen, again, Rebecca and Dima.  Once again, Dima was a former high school student of mine (yes, I taught high school chemistry, and yes, my students actually learned something...I hope).  He fell madly in love with a Finn named Rebecca.  This wedding was international to begin with.  We just didn't know to what extent.

First of all, it was an early start; 6:00 AM for us.  After all the initial going-on's that accompany getting ready for a wedding, the bridal party and Bethany and I headed to Frankfort (the true capital of Kentucky) to take some portraits.  Being a lovely day and a lovely group of people, this wasn't too hard to do.  Overcoming technical difficulties is something we do best and we really got some great shots.  Thanks guys for dealing with the heat.  We know that it was brutal.

Then the interesting part happened.  We arrived at the church, and barely understood anyone.  With Finnish and Ukrainian being spoken all around us, we truly had a hard time keeping up.  We really have to give a shout-out to three very special people.  They helped us out like no one else could.  They translated countdowns and speeches.  We truly appreciate them.  Thank you three Anonymous Boyko Brothers.  You are truly the best.  And younger of the three, here is that photo I was promising you.

After the reception (which we wish we understood more of, we headed to Cincinnati with the wedding party for a few more bridal party shots along with a nice, romantic, subtle....water balloon fight...in the middle of Cincinnati.  It was awesome.  And the best part, it was completely legal.  LOVE IT!

Dima and Rebecca, we wish you nothing but the best and we pray that God blesses you.  Have a great honeymoon!

Kentucky Wedding :: Aletha and Ranjo

href="file://localhost/Users/andrewwells/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/msoclip/0clip_filelist.xml" rel="File-List">
Aletha and Ranjo have been our best friends since around 1988.  At least that’s how it feels whenever we hang out with them.  They are just such fantastic personalities that it’s just hard not to fall in love with them whenever you're around them.

Wednesday, Aletha had a henna appointment that we gave a very quick sneak peak for.  The artwork was done by Red Lotus Designs out of Lexington, KY.  Jamie was awesome to work with and really took the time and care to make Aletha look stunning.  Really, we would suggest her to any of our clients, friends, or family.

And then something big happened……

Yesterday, they celebrated their wedding with us.  And their familes and friends.  It felt so personal and natural, if it weren’t for the heat, it would have felt like it was just the four of us working, making a wonderful wedding shoot happen.  But it was the real thing; and I think that takes an awesome couple to make the feeling feel so real.

They are on their honeymoon right now, but I high suggest that while they are gone, you load their Facebook inboxes chock-full of best wishes and tokens of your appreciation.  And then I humbly suggest you check out their wedding photographs, again.  Wells-Photo.com would really appreciate it!
